In this monthly round-up in Today's News, we would like to highlight what’s going on in your state and regional associations.
This month, we have the opportunity to hear from our colleagues in Pennsylvania and the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA).
Robin Walker, president of PASFAA (Pennsylvania), shares that she was asked to provide input for Pennsylvania’s State Board of Higher Education (SBHE). The SBHE is charged with adopting a strategic plan that will provide direction and coordination to support the state’s colleges and universities.
Additionally, the association will hold Spring Training sessions in March at two locations – with one in the east of the state and another in the west. These sessions are focused on key topics such as verification processes, state grant processing, new loan processing, and compliance updates.
Ken Ferreira, president of EASFAA, shares that the 2026-27 State Conference Calendar is coming together for EASFAA travel. Additionally, EASFAA discussed a new storage facility that will house purchased AV Equipment and EASFAA Archives, with special thanks to Rich Neilsen for coordinating.
The February 2026 EASFAA Council meeting will be held in person and will include a Leadership Summit for 15-18 guests to join council for the meeting with programming designed to showcase EASFAA, Ken writes. A budget update will take place at the February meeting and will be summarized for members. The summit will also include Past President Tayler Kreuter leading the council through an exercise that develops the EASFAA code of ethics.
EASFAA membership will also be provided a mid-year update on the association’s progress toward the milestone goals of the strategic plan.
Check back next month to see what your colleagues are doing across the country, and check out your colleagues’ updates from previous months!
