Federal Student Aid (FSA) acknowledged on Friday that it is aware of reported issues from financial aid offices concerning tax data reported on Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) and is investigating those potential errors.
Based on initial reports, FSA believes that these potential issues “would not affect the significant majority of all previously submitted applications.”
FSA has contacted the Department of Education (ED) and the IRS and is working to assess whether the reports are impacting a subset of FAFSA applications and whether there are system issues that will need to be addressed.
“In collaboration with the IRS, we will determine the scope, impact, and remedy for any potential issues identified,” FSA writes. “We will keep the financial aid community informed of the status related to these reports and provide states, schools, and other stakeholders with any further guidance as quickly as possible once we have more information.”
