Beta Testing for 2026-27 FAFSA Opens for All Users

By Maria Carrasco, NASFAA Staff Reporter

In the next step of expanding the beta testing process, Federal Student Aid (FSA) on Wednesday announced that all students and their contributors can now submit a 2026-27 FAFSA.

While FSA states that the 2026-27 FAFSA will officially launch by October 1, 2025, as mandated by law, the agency announced on Wednesday that the 2026-27 FAFSA form is available to all users as part of the ongoing beta testing period. FSA also included a link on its website for users who want to participate in the beta testing and start their FAFSA.

FSA began the first phase of its beta testing process for the 2026-27 FAFSA in early August and will continue the testing period through September. During the beta period, a user’s FAFSA form can be submitted and the user will not need to resubmit their form for the 2026-27 academic year.

In late August, Education Secretary Linda McMahon certified that the 2026-27 FAFSA will launch by October 1, 2025, as mandated by the FAFSA Deadline Act.

Stay tuned to Today’s News for more information about the formal launch of the 2026-27 FAFSA.

My question remains...what about the FWS Wages that have not been reported yet? When will schools receive the reprocessed ISIRs?

Excellent job FSA! Rolling out FAFSA prior to date, having a reduction in work force and yet here we are! Great job!
