Situation

Pace University requested an external review of their Ellucian Banner financial aid management system to assess opportunities for system optimization and receive assistance with implementation of key improvements.

Solution

Blue Icon Advisors provided one consultant with Ellucian Banner financial aid management system knowledge and expertise to assist with the 2025-26 new aid year setup, identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvements, and implement the configurations, as possible, to a more baseline system approach. “The consultant was patient, attentive, and well-rounded. Nothing threw him with the challenges we had and requests we made,” said Noel Whearty, Director of Financial Aid Systems.

Outcome

Through the engagement, Heather Hilbrink, Assistant Director of Financial Aid Systems and Web Management, was able to expand her skillset in the system. “Because our consultant has done similar work with other schools, they were easily able to reframe the situation and enhance my understanding,” Hilbrink said.

There were budget constraints during the engagement, so the staff maximized the consultant’s time and expertise. It was such a valuable experience that they made conscious sacrifices in other areas to continue working with the consultant as much as they could.
