2027-28 FAFSA Now Open For Public Comment

By Maria Carrasco, NASFAA Staff Reporter

The Department of Education (ED) on Friday, via the Federal Register, announced that the 2027-28 FAFSA is now open for public comment.

Under the comment period, members of the public have 60 days until Tuesday, April 14, to submit comments on a draft version of the 2027-28 FAFSA. Instructions on how to submit comments through the regulations.gov website are available in the Federal Register notice. ED has also provided updated draft documents for the 2027-28 FAFSA form and included instructions to download those files.

Federal Student Aid (FSA) on Friday released an electronic announcement outlining several changes in the 2027-28 FAFSA, including that students’ data will be prepopulated from previous FAFSA forms which will allow for a faster experience for returning students.

NASFAA will submit its own comments on the 2027-28 FAFSA and will share those comments with members in Today’s News.
