Jennifer Philen
Regulatory Specialist, NASFAA
Jennifer Philen is a regulatory specialist at NASFAA, where she updates NASFAA publications and responds to questions regarding regulatory issues through NASFAA's AskRegs service. Jennifer began her career in financial aid in 2001 as a Federal Work-Study student in the financial aid office at the University of Montevallo. After graduation, she began working in the financial aid office at Samford University, where she served in several roles, from financial aid advisor to director. Jennifer has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Samford University and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Montevallo. Jennifer joined NASFAA’s Training and Regulatory Assistance Team in 2024. She teleworks from her home in Birmingham, Alabama, and enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
