Develop a complete, compliant Policies and Procedures manual

Situation

Renee Garcia, substitute associate dean of student services at Shasta College, contacted Blue Icon Advisors seeking a Policies and Procedures manual project. Garcia has subscribed to the NASFAA Builder, however she nor the staff had the capacity to complete the manual. To ensure that the institution is minimizing its risk, Garcia sought assistance in developing a robust, complete manual that encompassed all regulations to administer Title IV Federal Student Aid effectively and efficiently for the students at Shasta College.

Solution

Blue Icon assigned one consultant to work with Shasta College to evaluate their existing P&Ps and write missing or non-compliant elements. The consultant uploaded all available P&Ps into the NASFAA P&P Builder, performed a thorough gap and compliance analysis, and worked with the school directly on writing new P&Ps. Shasta had a hard deadline to complete the manual and worked diligently with the consultant to meet the timeline. 

Outcome

“It’s nice knowing that we have a complete, compliant manual in place,” Garcia said. Both the consultant and school acknowledged the hectic pace toward the end of the project to finish on time, but it was worth it in the end. Michael Fannon, Director of Student Services (Financial Aid), added, “We were surprised at the amount of work and the output the consultant provided. It was a good match for what we needed.”
