John Bender
WASFAA Representative, Lewis-Clark State College
John Bender III is the associate director of processing at Lewis-Clark (LC) State College. John began his educational journey at LC State almost three decades ago. During his freshman year, he found a work-study job in the financial aid office. He never left. LC State offers degrees ranging from short-term certificates through master's degrees, and has a thriving Prison Education Program. Serving such a diverse population keeps John and his colleagues extremely busy. As the first person in his immediate family to graduate from college, John is acutely aware of the challenges facing students. He is passionate about helping students achieve their goals. John also finds a great deal of professional and personal satisfaction in assisting his fellow aid administrators, he believes aid administrators are the heart and soul of most campuses. He has served in multiple roles in state and regional associations. During his free time, John enjoys live music and spending time in the great outdoors.
