Address Compliance Problem Areas with Blue Icon Advisors

Verification, Return of Title IV Funds, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and Consumer Information are areas of high institutional risk when not in compliance. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) may require schools to repay funds or may assess fines on institutions that do not comply with rules and regulations. Blue Icon Advisors, NASFAA Consulting, provides your institution with a holistic approach to addressing compliance problem areas.

Perform a Single-Topic Assessment

First, Blue Icon will perform a single-topic assessment of your compliance problem area. The review will include both publicly and institutionally provided materials, such as your website, student handbook, policies and procedures, and sample communications. Our consultants will also perform a file review and conduct staff interviews related to the specific topic. The exit interview and resulting report will detail the identified compliance exceptions and provide recommended action steps for resolution.

Write Policies and Procedures

After the review, Blue Icon can write policies and procedures to address the missing or non-compliant elements. Our consultants will work with identified members of your financial aid team to revise or write compliant policies and procedures related to the identified topic. Your team will review and approve what was written to ensure all parties understand the new documentation. We can also load the language into NASFAA’s P&P Builder to simplify access and provide future updates.

Provide Training

Finally, we will provide custom training to strengthen staff knowledge and address deficiencies in the identified compliance problem area. Our consultants use NASFAA training materials and can provide training on-site or via videoconference. Every training topic includes a custom case study tailored to your institution’s needs. If you elect to have credential-level training with Blue Icon, your staff can test for the NASFAA credential in that topic.
